The Land of Codru covers the part of Maramureş between the Codru Ridge and the Someş valley. This area of ancient traditions still preserves original folk art, customs and crafts that make it appealing to the tourists.
The traditional houses are much alike those of Chioar and have a ground plan that consists of three rooms. The largest and the most richly ornamented building of the homestead is the barn which has influenced the ground plan of the barns of Chioar and Lapus.
The most representative piece of furniture is the so-called ladoi, a large chest used to keep clothes and sheets.
